Our Love Story

When Doug and Taylor first crossed paths at the University of Wisconsin in 2012, neither could have predicted how perfectly their lives would intertwine. What began as casual conversation between two Badgers quickly blossomed into something extraordinary. They found themselves drawn together by shared interests and complementary personalities, spending sunny afternoons on the terrace, toiling through countless study sessions, and providing each other unwavering support in their collegiate pursuits. Between enjoying university life and exploring Madison’s vibrant culture, they discovered in each other not just a partner, but a best friend. After graduating, Doug and Taylor embarked on their first big adventure – moving to the enchanting landscapes of Santa Fe. There, they created their first home together and immersed themselves in the rich tapestry of Southwest culture, enjoying the spectacular food scene and gorgeous mountain landscapes. Life soon presented them with a challenging chapter as their graduate studies pulled them in different directions – Doug pursuing his passion in computer science at the University of New Mexico, while Taylor returned to their beloved University of Wisconsin for her doctoral degree. Despite the miles that separated them, their bond grew only stronger – proving time and again that absence truly does make the heart grow fonder. They mastered the art of long-distance love, turning weekend visits into treasured adventures and finding creative ways to stay connected across the country. After a blissful reunion in Madison, they briefly made Baltimore their home during Taylor’s predoctoral internship, and they then settled in Chicago. With each move, Taylor and Doug rediscovered the magic and excitement that first brought them close. Through every new city, their love has remained as steadfast as ever, reflecting the beautiful journey that has prepared them for their next chapter – always hand in hand, forever side by side. What makes Doug and Taylor's love story so special is not just the miles that they've traveled together, but the way in which they've grown alongside each other. Their relationship has been built on a foundation of unwavering support, shared laughter, and the kind of understanding that comes from truly being one another’s best friend. Looking back on the lakeside terraces of Madison, the sun-kissed mesas of Santa Fe, and the charming corners of Baltimore, Doug and Taylor see the same beautiful truth – their love stands strong through each new challenge and city skyline. Whether they're trying a new place in Chicago's vibrant culinary and cocktail scene, planning their next outdoor excursion, or simply sharing quiet moments at home (with their beloved dachshund Daisy, of course), they find joy in life’s simple pleasures. Their journey from college sweethearts to soon-to-be spouses shows that when you find the right person, every step of the way – even the challenging ones – becomes part of a beautiful adventure. From those first sparks on campus to their current life in the Windy City, Doug and Taylor cherish one another’s dreams and celebrate each other’s victories as if they were their own. Their hearts overflow with gratitude for the journey that led them here, and they can’t wait to begin the next chapter of their lives together – side by side, hand in hand, forever and always.

O'Hare International Airport is 16 miles from the venue and located northwest of the city. Travel to and from the airport varies drastically with Chicago traffic, so make sure you allocate sufficient time.

Hello Family &amp; Friends! We are looking forward to celebrating with you on Saturday, and we are so happy and honored that you are joining us! As a reminder, guests are asked to arrive to the wedding venue (Venue SIX10 - 610 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago) at 4:00 PM.&nbsp; Travel into Chicago can be unpredictable with traffic and construction, and on Saturday there are several large events downtown, so please allow ample time to drive in and find parking, if applicable.&nbsp;As a reminder, there is valet and self public parking at the Hilton Chicago (enter parking on East Balbo Drive) and Marriott Le Meridien Essex Chicago&nbsp;(enter parking on 8th Street), as space allows. There is also valet parking available at the Marriott Blackstone Hotel next&nbsp;to the venue, as space is available. The valet address is: 99 East Balbo Drive, Chicago.&nbsp;You can also find other parking locations on the "Travel" page of our website, or you can reserve a parking spot in advance at SpotHero or ParkWhiz. If you arrive before the ceremony space opens, we have arranged a welcome area on the first floor of the venue where guests can comfortably gather, or the Hilton and Blackstone have beautiful lobby and bar areas as well.
